Product Description

The traditional Tibetan scarf used to make offerings is known as a Khata. Made from silk, cotton, or other materials, the khata looks like a long scarf and it is common to have the eight auspicious symbols or the om mani padme hum mantra on it. Khatas have been in Tibet for centuries, it is disputed whether khatas developed alongside Buddhism, or if they were used in Tibet prior to Buddhism. If you want to offer a khata to a teacher or someone in a position of authority, it is appropriate to give the khata to the person while folding your hands near your forehead with a bow and your hands should be folded together. This Tibetan Buddhist scarf is 8 feet long and 1.5 feet wide and it was made in Nepal. The eight auspicious signs are printed along this scarf.
