Sitatapatra is also known as Sitapatra. This thangks is 34 inches long and 20 inches wide. This Sitatapatra thangka was made in Nepal. The border of this thangka is made from brocade.

Sitapatra means, "white parasol," and she has 1,000 arms and legs. Sitatapatra often looks similar to Avalokitashvara because of the 1,000 arms and legs. Sitatapatra also has 11 heads. There are three eyes in each of Sitatapatra's eleven heads, and there is an eye in the palm of each hand and the sole of each foot. Sitatapatra holds arrows in her left hands, and dharma wheels and white parasols in her right hands.

Sitatapatra is the female couterpart to Avalokiteshvara, and she guards against supernatural danger. Sitatapatra was born from the crown of the Buddha Shakyamuni. Sitatapatra protects practitioners and helps us avoid obstacles.
