The mantra of Sitatapatra is Om sarva tathagata anika sitatapatra hum phat hum mama hum ni svaha // Hum Mama hum ni svaha. The first part of this mantra means om! All blessed-one splendor White unbrella hum phat, all hail. The first mantra is the long version and hum mama hum ni svaha is the short version of this mantra. Sitatapatra is white, and has 1,000 hands, 1,000 faces, and 10 million 100,000 eyes. In the first set of hands the Sitatapatra Buddha holds a dharma wheel in the refuge giving mudra. In the left hand Sitatapatra holds a parasol to her heart. Sita means white and atapatra means parasol or umbrella. Sitatapatra is said to have eminated from the crown of Shakyamuni Buddha's head. Her role is to cut asunder all malignant demons and the spells of others and the hatred of others. Sitatapatra is sometimes referred to as the female counterpart to Avalokiteshvara. This thangka is 34 inches long and 20 inches wide. This thangka was made in Nepal.
